In March 2022, the Alumni UK Chapter took the helm in championing an innovative Drone project for FPI, spearheading the initiative from Germany and Dublin under the leadership of Dr. Toksy Ogunfemi, representing the UK Chapter. This visionary project became the catalyst for the establishment of the Mechatronic Engineering course at the institution.
The project's impact extended beyond the boundaries of traditional academia. Not only were staff members carefully selected and sponsored by the UK Chapter, but FPI's Secondary College and Primary Nursery also actively participated. Students were introduced to drone technology, learning to fly drones, assemble them, and manage their packaging, offering a practical and engaging educational experience.
As a testament to the successful completion of this transformative program, a Drone Master ceremony was held during the Great University's graduation. The Rector of FPI, Dr. Arc O. O. Aluko, PhD, Dr. Ogunfemi as the UK Coordinator, Engr. J. Shoyemi, the Director of the Innovation Centre, along with the dedicated staff and volunteer students involved in the project, were honored and awarded medals in recognition of their contributions and successful completion of the Drone program.
This collaboration between the Alumni UK Chapter and FPI not only fostered innovation but also laid the groundwork for a cutting-edge educational pathway, empowering both faculty and students to delve into emerging fields and embrace the advancements of the future.
